Oak Forest was born from one of Houston's boldest post-war development decisions.
In the years following World War II, as the city began its dramatic push northwestward beyond Garden Oaks, pioneering developer Frank Sharp recognized an extraordinary opportunity — and seized it. Sharp acquired 1,132 acres of land and channeled his wartime housing expertise into what would become one of the largest and most ambitious residential developments in Houston's history.
To execute the vision with both speed and architectural integrity, Sharp engaged Wilson, Morris & Crain — one of Houston's most distinguished firms, and the same architectural minds that would later give the world the iconic Astrodome — to design the neighborhood's foundational homes. The result was a master-planned community built with intention, scale, and lasting quality.
More than 70 years later, that foundation endures — and Oak Forest remains one of Houston's most coveted residential addresses. Onward Development Group will be bringing this vision to life by another renowned development firm to create a successful asset that is a legacy build.
